History

Although originally formed in 1932, when the membership fee was five shillings a year, the club foundered for a while. In 1955, the Parish Council Playing Fields Committee granted permission for the establishment of two grass courts on the existing site and the current club was founded on 25 May 1956. It has been active since that date. The grass courts were converted into hard courts in 1984. By 1994, Wednesday club night had been established and Wortham was entering teams in the Mens, Ladies and Mixed South Norfolk League. Volunteers were coaching juniors.

A third court and the club hut were added in 1997 and all courts were floodlit in 2005.

Our fourth floodlit court was installed in 2014 and a new, larger club hut was erected.  These are great new facilities for members.   The 'fourth court' (in reality No 1 court) was named the Laurie Dickson court in memory of former chairman and team captain.  The Laurie Dickson court was officially opened by LTA President Cathie Sabin on 13 September 2104.  The club was really priveleged to have such prestigious recognition.
